Video & Photo Gallery: Qintex Q9S Smart TV Box - First impressions & Quick Review



As I told you in this article, Qintex Company send me a few weeks ago a new Amlogic SA905 Android TV Box: Qintex Q9S Smart TV Box model. Here you'll find a photo gallery and a video with the unboxing of this nice device.

Qintex Q9S TV Box has an elegant and compact design, with aluminium case and a front power button & digital display. On the right side it has the SD/MMC card reader and 2 full size USB ports. In the rear you can find the WiFi external antenna, reset button, another full size USB port, HDMI 2.0 out, Ethernet LAN RJ45 Gigabit 1000M port, AV out, 3,5 mm audio out, Optical audio out and power port. The overall impression is very good, the device looks to be constructed with big care to details.

Qintex Q9S TV Box comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The model adopts the latest quad core S905 chipset from Amlogic. For connectivity the device includes wired Ethernet RJ45 Gigabit 1000M, 802.11 a/b/g/n Dual Band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and Infra Red receiver on board.

Qintex Q9S Smart TV Box
The firmware is just great with a beautiful launcher, one of best in its class till now, with big tiles and easy customisation.

In Antutu Video Tester 3.0 Qintex Q9S Smart TV Box scores 913 points, an impressive score in this test ranking. It played smoothly almost all video file types; this firmware version fully supports 27 video & audio format files and it partially supports 3 video & audio format files.In Antutu Benchmark 6.0.4 the device achieves also an amazing score, over 36.000 points.


As you can see, Qintex Q9S Smart TV Box is a very good and powerful multimedia player giving you the power to transform your living room into a real 4k Home Theater. 

Internet speed tested on both WiFi & Ethernet gets good values too. For WiFi connection, the download speed was 27 Mbps and the upload speed 30 Mbps (5 Ghz) and 9 Mbps in download and the upload speed 7 Mbps (2.4 Ghz). Wired, on Gigabit Ethernet connection, the download speed was 53 Mbps and the upload speed 53 Mbps. The router used in this test is Xiaomi Mi WiFi Router.

Download Amlogic firmware update version 0.0.3 for Ugoos AM1 TV Box



This is first update for new Ugoos Amlogic box. From today, all Ugoos AM1 users can see update notification from OTA center. V.0.0.3 comes with Ugoos launcher, so AM1 is the third device with it in standard firmware.

Ugoos launcher offers:
- Variety of nine color themes for main launcher elements
- Customizable background: you can choose from a list or use system background
- Customizable desktop icons: amount on one screen, border size, icon background
- New category selector: eight categories + one with all applications
- Quick start of main application from every category
- Adaptive remote controller support


In this release, we added root access. Root feature let you access to the entire operating system of your TV Box and can do anything. By default, you don’t have root access to your own Android device, and certain apps won’t function without root access. Device rooted without reboot, but if you want to undo all changes, system will ask to restart device. Activate Root access you can: Settings - Ugoos settings – System – Root.

Power menu extended in this release. We added main power options in menu:
- Power off
- Sleep
- Reboot
- Reboot recovery (device restarts with recovery menu before main system starts)

With new update comes new remote controller layout. New layout fix problems when some users can’t awake device after sleep. Some users had problems with OTG usb port that turns to a slave mode and doesn’t work with airmouses and pads. Now we add automatic slave/active mode for this USB port

If you don’t have internet connection on your box you can manually download OTA update file from our Download Center and upgrade your device manually.
