$199.99 Ulefone Power or $295 Xiaomi Redmi Note 3?

We have made a video to show Ulefone Power and Redmi together. Chipset and storage aside, Ulefone Power perform almost equally to the Redmi device. And the Power’s 6050mAh mammoth battery is apparently a plus. For price, Ulefone Power is presently sold for USD179.99, about USD95 cheaper than the Note 3. So we guess Ulefone Power will be a better choice for you.

Sound test of Xiaomi Square Box Bluetooth 4.0 Speaker with Aluminium Alloy Structure

Xiaomi have added a great looking geometric 3D-looking pattern on to the front speaker grill, replacing the minimalist white grill on the original version. They’ve beefed up the speakers to dual 2.5W drivers, rather than the two 1.8W drivers in the original. This means the new model should be capable of pumping out more power. The rest of the specs seem to be unchanged, with the speaker retaining it’s Bluetooth 4.0 compatibility and in-built 1200mAh battery that should hit the rated 10 hours. Xiaomi Bluetooth speaker can be charged by Micro USB cable or 5V AC adapter, no matter what way you use, it does not support charging in playing music, and it only plays when it is not charging.

With Bluetooth audio and the speaker audio maxed out I still didn’t get any audible distortion.  I tested it with Ruizu X06 Bluetooth Music Player.

You can now buy Xiaomi Square Box Bluetooth 4.0 Speaker with Aluminium Alloy Structure from Gearbest.com for only $19.66 with free shipping.

Video: Sound Test of XiaoMi Bluetooth 4.0 Speaker with metallic body

XiaoMi Bluetooth 4.0 Speaker with metallic body
The Original Xiaomi Bluetooth 4.0 speaker comes inside a sleek, rectangular box. Picking up the device for the first time and you will notice the strong metallic construction. On the front is the speaker grill and a nicely engraved Mi logo, the backside is completely flat with CE and FCC engravings. The device is quite thin and easy to carry and it does not weigh a lot either. The volume buttons are multi functional. Apart from changing volume they can also be used to change tracks by holding them down. On the left end of the speaker we can find a micro SD card slot, micro USB jack and a 3.5mm Aux in jack. You will also find a tiny hole for the microphone right besides the Aux input. Looking at the information given by Xiaomi, we can see two mid ranged drivers on the sides with a huge bass driver sitting in the middle. The mid range drivers are circular in shape with a 36mm diameter whereas the bass driver is rectangular and much larger.

There is a 1500mAh battery packed inside which easily lasts over 10 hours if you play the music at medium volume. All in all, the construction of the speaker is extremely simple looking and really solid. You should not worry about it breaking so easily.

You can play music from 3 sources: micro SD card, bluetooth & Aux in. The sound appears to be very clear. If you happen to hold the speaker in your hand while audio is playing, you will feel it vibrate. Turning the volume higher makes the speaker vibrate even more and that is because of the huge bass driver. You need not worry about the speaker rattling on the surface you place it upon. The weight of the speaker is enough to keep it steady. This Xiaomi speaker has a Avnera AV3102 DSP chip which takes care of the audio and it is the same chip that is used in the popular smartphone Xiaomi Mi4 and Mi4i.

With Bluetooth audio and the speaker audio maxed out I still didn’t get any audible distortion; something most bluetooth speakers at this price and volume level will have a very difficult time competing with.  I tested it with Ruizu X06 Bluetooth Music Player.

You can now buy XiaoMi Bluetooth 4.0 Speaker with metallic body from Gearbest.com for only $43.23 with free shipping.
